Pardoning power of the President

  •  Article 72
1. Pardon: Completely absolves the offender of all the convictions and the punishment
2. Reprieve:  a temporary stay 
3. Respite: reducing the weight or the severity of the punishment on some special grounds
4. Remission: Reduction in a sentence w/o changing its character.
5. Commutation: substituting one form to another (lighter).
