Veto Power of the President

1. Absolute Veto

• withholding of assent to the bill passed by the legislation
• only when asked by the union COM.

2. Suspensive Veto

• can be overridden by the legislature with an ordinary majority

3. Pocket Veto

• taking no action on the bill passed by the legislature.
• The pocket of The Indian President is bigger than that of the American President.

4. Qualified Veto

• overridden by the legislature with a higher majority

In the context of India, NO qualified veto for the Indian President

The 24th CAA,1971 made it obligatory for the President to give his assent to a CAA Bill.
